Our partners are extremely important to our efforts to provide memorable experiences for our guests within both our Classic Pinehurst Tour and our Sweet and Savory Brunch Tour and we are very fortunate to be able to work with them. Through the combined efforts of the venues featured below we feel we have created a unique opportunity for visitors and locals alike to experience the Village of Pinehurst as well as the offerings of the Pinehurst Resort...a true blending of the "best of both worlds". Each of our partners provides a different venue, foods, approaches to food, and different atmospheres within which to enjoy that food. The tasting stops we make will allow you to sample excellent food in a variety of lovely settings.
THE CLASSIC PINEHURST TOUR
The Deuce is the newest restaurant in the Pinehurst Resort. The hallway leading to the Deuce is lined with memorabilia from Pinehurst's storied golf history. It is located in the main golf clubhouse with incredible views looking out over the 18th hole of the famed Pinehurst No. 2 course. A trophy case highlights the entrance to the restaurant and is a great photo opportunity. Inside the cozy atmosphere of the restaurant the walls are lined with more history for you to savor during the tasting. Sample a small plate pastrami slider accompanied by a side of crunchy 'tater' tots to kick off the tour. A craft beer meant to complement the pastrami slider will be provided.
The Holly Inn takes you back to a simpler yet elegant time and place. As you enter The Inn you are greeted by a lovely reception area and fireplace. The Music Room (Holly and Ivy) is a must see. The Tavern itself is a cozy nook where you will enjoy the rustic charm of yesterday. While munching on the handmade, freshly cooked potato chips that the Tavern is known for you will hear the chef provide a description of a hot chicken wrap prepared for your enjoyment. The 1895 Room provides a setting for a private tasting featuring a signature dish of shrimp and grits. Enjoy the black and white photos that adorn this lovely private dining experience in a truly historic setting. These two tastings will also include craft beers meant to complement the dishes.
The Carolina Hotel is the "gem" of the resort properties. As you enter the spacious lobby you can easily imagine the many celebrities, golfers, politicians, and leaders of business who have strode across this lobby of the hotel that is often referred to as the "Queen of the South". As you have your final private tasting of Key Lime Pie accompanied by a great Oatmeal Dark Porter beer in the magnificent dining room take time to enjoy the beauty and grandeur of a time past. Just off the Carolina lobby is the Ryder Cup Lounge which celebrates the 1951 Ryder Cup competition held on Pinehurst #2. As in the other venues, the many photos and artifacts provide a sense of history which pervades the atmosphere.
In addition to the food tasting stops we will visit The Village Wine Shop for a wine tasting. The Village Wine Shop is a boutique wine shop in the downtown area specializing in providing a wide range of fine wines for every palate and budget. The vintage bar is a great backdrop for a photo opportunity. The wines, specially selected by the owner for the tasting, are meant to provide you an experience with unique wines and wineries.
PineScones, a well-known specialty gourmet bake shop and cafe located in Pinehurst is a vision of owner Rae Anne Kinney who began baking scones in her home and sharing them with friends and family. Over time, PineScones outgrew the home operation and is now located in a shopping plaza off of Linden Road. Fresh and frozen ready to bake scones are available 7 days a week. To cap off the tour, we are happy to present each of our culinary tour guests with a freshly baked scone at the end of each tour.
THE SWEET AND SAVORY BRUNCH TOUR
A visit to the Pinehurst Olive Oil Company allows individuals to sample both the sweet and savory flavors of a vast variety of olive oils and vinegars. As a relatively new owner, Kim Mims has embraced the idea of offering not only a high quality product, but a friendly and creative environment for customers. Many innovative recipes are also available that pair the oils and vinegars to create delightful dishes. Culinary Tour Brunch participants will enjoy a leisurely stop at the store.
Lady Bedford’s Tea Parlour is a unique experience offering special breakfast, relaxing lunch or elegant afternoon teas. There are over 60 high quality teas to choose from, individually brewed at the time of your order. Guests of the Sweet and Savory Brunch tour will have the opportunity to dine in a classic Victorian atmosphere and learn about the art of making the perfect cup of tea from owner Marian Caso.
Cameron and Co. is truly a unique shopping experience located in the Village of Pinehurst. Offering a variety of gourmet foods, clothing and gifts, their customers are always glad to see those “hard to find” items. The shop carries a wide range of North Carolina specialty products such as T-shirts, hand towels and Christmas ornaments. Owner Caroline Miller is always prepared to welcome with you open arms and a touch of Southern hospitality. Culinary tours participants will have time to shop in the store while indulging in a scoop of hand dipped ice cream.
Just as interesting as the food and drink in many ways is the variety of stories that each venue will bring to the tour participants. As you hear from chefs, managers, and owners you will be amazed at their stories and backgrounds, at their connections to so many people and places, and at the pride and dedication these people bring to Pinehurst.
