Frequently Asked Questions

Must tickets be purchased in advance?

We encourage you to purchase tickets well in advance.  Tours usually sell out ahead of time, so please plan accordingly.

Do we just walk around and sample food?

No.  Culinary Tours of the Pines combine both a tour of the Village of Pinehurst's historic district and a culinary tour. Tours are fully narrated by your guide and include opportunities to interact with the chefs, proprietors, and other staff at each of our stops.

How much food is served on the tour?

There is enough food on our culinary tours to make a meal for most. We recommend eating only a light snack prior to our tours.

What types of food are served on the tour?

Foods include a variety of local specialties. Each tour will include several different courses such as appetizers/small plates, entrees, desserts, and/or brunch items.  Foods and venues included on tours have been chosen for their commitment to excellence and representation of the Pinehurst/Sandhills area and North Carolina food culture.

What if I have dietary restrictions?

Working with our chefs, we seek to accommodate certain dietary restrictions. Please call in advance to discuss your restrictions and if substitutions can be made within the context of our tours.

Are there any beverages served on the tour?

During the Classic Pinehurst Tour each small plate signature dish will be accompanied by a craft beer designed to complement the dish.  Each restaurant will also offer water as desired with each meal.  Soft drinks or other alcoholic beverages can be purchased at each individual venue on the tour for an additional cost.  The Sweet and Savory Brunch Tour includes tea samplings.

Does the tour guide accept gratuities?

Yes. Guide gratuities are greatly appreciated, although not required.

Are restrooms available during the tour?

Yes. Restrooms are available at each of the stops.

How much walking is involved?

Culinary Tours of the Pines are walking tours. The Village of Pinehurst is extremely pedestrian-friendly and walking is the best way to enjoy the charm of our beautiful, hidden gem.  Approximately one quarter of the tour will be spent walking.  The walk will be an easy walk (approximately 1 mile total) for most on flat, even surfaces.   Most restaurant stops are 15-25 minutes. Please remember to wear comfortable shoes and clothes.

What happens if it rains?

Tours are held rain or shine. In the event of inclement weather, we will be able to go inside each of the stops on tour. We will not be outdoors for the entire tour.

Are cameras allowed on the tour?

Yes, cameras are welcomed and your tour guide will help identify particularly photogenic spots (and serve as amateur photographer on request).

Where does the tour finish?

All tours finish within easy walking distance of the Resort facilities and the Village shops.

Can I shop on the tour?

We ask that, in deference to other tour participants, you wait until after the tour to shop so that we can stay on schedule and ensure an enjoyable experience by all.  After the tour, please feel free to shop at any of the venues included on the tour and explore Pinehurst further!

Are tours offered only in English?

Yes.
